Starting off as a Playworker in 2006 I have now worked at the Newcroft Club for many years, and the ingenuity, creativity, and sheer exuberance children display when fully engaged in their own child-led play continues to inspire and fascinate me.

Sadie

Manager

Alongside working at The Newcroft Club on and off for 20 years, I have spent 9 years running a play school for refugee children in Bulgaria. I am passionate about the importance of play! I’m particularly interested in the way that play supports children’s personal, social, and emotional development. I am a qualified primary school teacher with QTS but have always been a Playworker at heart!

As a professional artist with many years of experience producing art and theatre workshops for preschool and primary aged children, I am passionate about encouraging the kids to use their imagination and explore their creativity in a fun, safe, and positive way – through the mediums of art, poetry, song and dance, movement and theatre.

Having taught English as a Foreign Language for many years, and as a speaker of Spanish, French and Italian, I appreciate the diversity of Nationalities at the club and the many languages spoken by the children in addition to English. I also enjoy music (I play guitar and sing in a choir) and I hope to inspire children to explore this aspect of their creativity.

I went to Newnham Croft Primary School, came back to start volunteering at the club in Year 10, and now work here as a Year 12. I love seeing how kids of all ages interact with the many supplies the club has to offer with their own creative spark, and I am always amazed by their ideas and suggestions.

I loved attending both Afterschool Club and Holiday Club whilst a student at Newnham Croft. Now I have returned to work part-time while studying for my A-Levels. I enjoy getting involved with all the play action outside, as well as helping with arts and crafts and various games indoors.

As someone who used to attend the club myself, it’s especially important for me that all children are able to play and explore their interests as much as possible. I enjoy experimenting with arts and crafts with the children as well as expanding their imaginations through outdoor games, alongside completing my A levels.

I have returned to work part-time whilst studying for my A-Levels as I enjoyed attending Holiday Club and Afterschool Club when I was younger. I love participating in the activities at the Club; I enjoy both inside crafts and outside play.
